Public Advisory
High risk week for pedestrians prompts local Mounties to issue road safety warning
Metro Vancouver's weather in February isn't just a risk to your mood, it's also a risk to your safety. Coquitlam RCMP investigators have seen a spike in recent collisions involving pedestrians, with three happening in a single shift on Tuesday. So with more bad weather in the forecast, including the chance of snow, Coquitlam Mounties are urging drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to be extra cautious on local roads.
“Grey, rainy weather and short days make winter a higher risk season for any road user but it's been especially bad recently and we're not sure exactly why," said Claude Wilcott, officer in charge of Coquitlam RCMP. "It's frustrating for our responders and investigators because so many collisions are preventable and so many of these tragedies are avoidable if people would just follow the rules of the road and look out for each other. I'm asking everyone to use some common sense and take some simple precautions to keep themselves and their families safe on our roads." (22-02-12) To read the full Public Advisory Click Here
